Top 5 Wedding Tips

It wasn't until another supplier asked us for our Top 5 Wedding Planning Tips a couple of months ago that we realised we'd probably never actually shared these before. Having planned our own wedding along with hundreds of others for our lovely clients we thought they may prove useful to anyone embarking upon or in the midst of wedding planning.

1. Don't try please everyone else Try not to get hung up on what everyone thinks . It's YOUR day so avoid making compromises to please other people.

2. Have a bad weather plan Whether you choose an indoor or outdoor venue, some elements of your day are bound to take you outside. Have a contingency in place in case the weather is bad. Whether this be some fancy brollies or a rethink about where your photos could take place - be prepared, that way the weather can't ruin your day.

3. Delegate  It's tempting to take on most of the planning yourselves, although having some control is important, it's so important to delegate. Your friends and family would probably be thrilled to help with certain elements of your day so get them involved and alleviate some of your tasks (and stress). Also use your suppliers to their full potential. Wedding suppliers not only LOVE what they do - they also have a lot of experience -  tap in to this! Get advice from them, recommendations and tips for making the planning process easier.

4. Nail down some key timings  Even if you're going for the most laid back day, note down some key timings and get someone to keep an eye on these for you. A discreet nudge to guests to take their seats or vacate their tables after the meal needn't make the day feel regimented but helps the day flow, avoid any lulls and generally helps everyone get the most out of the day you've planned.

5. Take it all in Your wedding day will go by in a flash. Be sure to allocate a bit of time for the two of you. Whether it's half an hour after your ceremony to have a little stroll with a glass of something or a sneaky Espresso Martini outside following your meal - take a little step back for just the two of you to take everything in.

They're not teepee wedding specific tips and they're all pretty simple hints to follow. We hope they make a difference to your planning experience! We really do live and breath weddings so if we can help with any aspect of your day we'd love to hear from you.
