Mojito
This classic rum cocktail is a staple on any event bar. Being able to make your own at home is a sure fire way to put a little zing in to your night in.
Ingredients:
Mint
Rum (white or golden ideally)
Lime
Sugar (preferably muscovado)
Soda water
Ice (crushed or cubes)
Equipment:
Measuring thimble
Straws
Knife & chopping board
Bar spoon or teaspoon and something long like a chop stick
Glassware
Method:
1. Cut a whole lime in to 8 wedges and place in a long glass (if using lime juice rather than a whole lime add a 25ml measure to your glass)
2. Add 2 teaspoons of sugar (or 12.5ml if using sugar syrup) stir the lime and sugar together
3. Add approximately 12 mint leaves
4. Add 50ml of rum
5. Stir again, being careful not to bruise the mint
6. Begin to add ice slowly until your glass is full of ice. Keep stirring all the ingredients together through the ice
7. Top with soda and garnish with a mint sprig (giving it a little slap before placing in the glass to release the aroma)
