Each week during Lockdown we've been bringing you some serious inspiration for making awesome cocktails at home.
This week Dan demonstrates how to make a perfect Mai Tai (or how best to improvise in your kitchen!). We also chat to a very special guest all the way from New York City.
Mai Tai Recipe
If you'd like to make along here is what you'll need:
Ingredients
- White rum 18.5ml
- Dark rum 18.5ml
- Lime 25ml
- Orgeat (almond syrup) 12.5ml
- Orange liqueur 25ml
- Pineapple juice 25ml
-Dark rum (float) 12.5ml
- Ice
Equipment
- Cocktail shaker
- Measuring thimble
- Straws
- Knife & chopping board
- Bar spoon or teaspoon and something long like a chop stick
- Glassware
Method
1. Add all the ingredients (except the dark rum) to your cocktail shaker
2. Top shaker with ice
3. Shake hard
4. Pour straight in to your glass or strain over fresh ice
5. Float the dark rum over the top of the drink
6. Garnish with pineapple wedge or leaf
